Shecklers

The Shecklers have been serving with the IMB since 2013.

Kevin, originally from Michigan, met and married Keri (a former TCK and journeyman) while they were both on staff at California Baptist University. Before moving overseas they had been living in Lake County, IL where Kevin attended seminary and served on staff at a church.  They have three children:  Sofia (16), Selah (13) and Isaiah (11).

Knowing they would be ministering in a multi-ethnic area, they spent their first two years on the field in the Horn of Africa before moving to Birmingham, England where they continue to serve.

While they desire to see a multiplying church movement across the city of Birmingham, they are currently focusing on planting a multi-ethnic church in an area of the city called Nechells.

Nechells Ward
  • Nechells is a district in Central Birmingham. It is a very diverse community with over 40 ethnicities represented in the local schools.  With a large portion of the community coming from South Asia and the Horn of Africa, Islam is a dominant religion.

  • IMB workers established the Bloomsbury Hope Centre in 2017 to serve and love the community of Nechells.  Over the last few years, weekly homework clubs, Friday night youth clubs, ladies’ coffee time and Sunday bible studies have been regular activities that meet community needs and build relationships.

  • Community Dinners hosted every other month have seen over 125 people on average attend. These gatherings encourage attenders to bring foods from their countries, wear their national dress, but most importantly, come hear a gospel message.

  • The sharing and hearing of the gospel has led to salvation and baptism of people coming to know Jesus as their Saviour and Lord!

  • It is our prayer that soon a multi-ethnic church will be birthed. One that not only reflects the community but shares HOPE…to all nations, tribes and tongue in the city of Birmingham.
